Ingredients

  • 2 full racks of pork baby back ribs
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper optional
  • 2 cups barbecue sauce your favorite or Texas-style
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Equipment

  • Baking tray or roasting pan
  • Aluminum foil
  • Mixing bowl
  • Basting brush
  • Grill (optional) or oven broiler

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
  3. Mix the dry rub: In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne.
  4. Season the ribs generously on both sides. Place them on a foil-lined baking tray.
  5. Cover tightly with foil and bake in the oven for 2.5 to 3 hours until the ribs are tender.
  6. Prepare the BBQ glaze: Mix barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar in a saucepan over low heat. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.
  7. Remove ribs from the oven and discard the foil. Baste both sides with the glaze.
  8. Finish on the grill or broiler for 5–10 minutes, basting again halfway through, to get that caramelized finish.
  9. Rest for 10 minutes, slice, and serve hot with extra sauce on the side.
